What is NLP
Neuro-Linguistic Programming emerged in the year 1970s when Richard Bandler and John Grinder came together to understand human behaviour.
How did it happen?
The process which Grinder and Bandler used is known as Modelling. Modelling in NLP means
- Unconscious assimilation of information by modeller
- Replicate the same patterns in a similar context
- Receive the results
Whom did they model? Extraordinary people in the industry of change
- Virginia Satir
- Milton Erickson
- Fritz Perls
“Gregory Bateson also be known here as he offered a lot of encouragement, support, feedback and interests. He introduced them to Milton Erickson! Such was his interest as he wrote for them in the book “Structure of Magic” and states “John Grinder and Richard Bandler” have done something to what my colleagues and I attempted fifteen years ago.”
What specifically did they do while “unconscious assimilation” and learn from the model?
Micro Muscle Mirroring and matching
What Can it do?
It can do what you want literally. In first innings, it has been used only by psychologists, therapists and professionals who are dealing with human behaviour change work.
And it suddenly became famous and discovered that it can be used at all places, work, family, relationship, children, achieving goals, achieving harmony, finding clarity inside and outside, healing, overcoming fears, anxiety, OCD, body pain, mental disorders, emotional disorders, stammering, paralytic conditions and many more.
Definitions of NLP: I don’t believe in definitions personally as it then sticks to only that area, though a broader view for my readers;
There are many definitions of NLP
NLP is a science, art and technology. NLP is a study of human behaviour. NLP is a study of excellence.
NLP is the study of the structure of subjective experience
NLP is knowing how we organise our perceptions through the language of the mind to create our reality.
Neuro: Neurons in your mind which is processing a billions bit of information inside your brain which is mentally filtered at the first access through your Senses – VAKOG – internal images, sounds, tactile awareness, internal sensations, tastes and smells that form as a result of the neurological filtering process.
Linguistic: Post the processing, we give meaning to what we experience, internally and externally. We use natural language to express what we experience based on our mental maps.
Programming: The response subsequent is the program which we are providing to the outer world. This program has been used multiple times and became a trigger as a condition program.
NLP began as a means of modelling excellence with “NLP Modelling”
And then had a subset of NLP training and as a result of the training, NLP Application emerged.
“The point which I want to make here which has been discussed in the seminars/training with John Grinder is that there is a need for more research, more work and NEW Modelling process work so that a new pattern work can emerge!”
