Mind Alter Create – MAC Your State
When I started my journey with NLP, I read and heard the statement “Your state affects other’s state” many times. Read and heard Richard Bandler “Yogurt knows Yogurt”. Heard John Grinder multiple times in his classes, it’s all about the state “High-Performance State”.
Tony Robbins book “Awaken the Giant Within” and David Hawkins book “Power Vs Force” also discuss different emotions and range of values corresponding to set of emotions/state respectively.
As per the dictionary, the definition of the state is “particular condition that someone or something is in at a specific time.”
I got to experience this once again when I visited “Health Education Library for People” Mumbai. HELP provided me with an opportunity to meet old age people and experience how the state of their friends is helping them to think differently and change state. I feel blessed to connect with them and experience altering and creating a new state.
We humans go through lifetime experiences and live different “state” in the process.
How does the state gets triggered?
(As per my knowledge with NLP, NLP Reference books and individual experiences in NLP Sessions)
Our minds access the information from our ecology much before we actually know it. The input taken through our senses – Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetics, Olfactory, Gustatory – gets filtered in a few milliseconds. These filters are called modelling process in NLP (deletions, generalisation and distortion), it also filters through our beliefs systems, values, environment, people, older experiences etc and finally triggers an output i.e. response-action-behaviour – in form of internal shift and external shift – that builds up STATE.
What I simply mean is – If the state of an individual at a specific time is excitement, he will see/hear/feel the world situation differently vis-à-vis the person whose state is stress. The state does multiply in a positive or negative way. For example, excitement multiplies more excitement not only to the being; in the surroundings as well.
We can live our lives more simply and yet powerfully by the simple formula of “MAC Your State”
“Mind Your State”
Having awareness of state can give you the power to change the reality in mind for self, and things start moving in the direction you would like to.
How do I get aware?
You can get aware by
- Thoughts coming in your mind
- Tonality you are using to talk
- Picture you are creating about situations/people
- Kind of feeling you feel
- Way your body is responding – lethargic, lazy, painful, energetic, active and many other body responses. (Body doesn’t lie)
(These are only some of the ways.)
“Alter Your State”
But why to alter state? What do you get being in the same unwanted state…Actually Nothing? Then why not Alter and Create a new state which can help to see/hear/feel the world differently.
Accept that altering state helps and start working towards it!
Curing our disease only happens when we accept it fully.
How do I Alter and Create New State
One of the simplest techniques I have utilised personally at multiple times is below.
A simple way to alter state is to
Remember an old positive/powerful memory
Adjust your physiology and tonality that way. Sit/stand the way you did it that time, talk/have the older rhythm set
Adjust it to a higher intensity. Do it more and more.
Reach the highest intensity of that memory and feel the difference.
Congratulations, you have got a new STATE, now let’s use it more in future.
Future Pace- Use a self-anchor, for me, feet tapping is my anchor for this STATE, You can have your own, example, a snap of fingers, clap, or anything which can be self-created
Practice Self-anchor – 5-10 times Now
Then Practice Self-anchor – 5-10 times throughout the day!
The moment you create a new state, you have possibly more options than fewer and can make your life easier and smoother.
MAC Way – Mind, Alter and Create a new state
Mind Your State – Become Aware of your state!
Alter Your State – Get ready to change the state!
Create State – Create a new state and practice your anchor!
*MAC is only an acronym used in this article for simplifying the technique*
