A lot of us feel anxious, nervous while or even fear speaking in public.
The way you stand, sit and carry yourself says a lot about your confidence level which is essential for public speaking.
We all get nervous and have these “tells” in our body language, that give away what we feel, whether it’s a contact with your hands, feet, your expression or posture, we all have a definite tell. Identify those cues.
We have a certain anxious or nervous triggers that in turn impact our interactions with others in public speaking.
None of us like to be in this situation, we all like our confident, self-assertive, poised, composed selves.
What’s the most practical way to improve my body language?
Find out the poses and postures that makes you feel confident.
Think of a time when you were more confident. Hold that pose. On your mark, just shift your body language.
Feel the confidence flow in, by just standing in that confident position.
Okay, maybe you can’t recollect a particular time or pose, So then?
Think of the most confident person you know, stand like they do, think about how they smile, hear your thoughts change.
Whether it’s standing like any celebrity, a CEO of a company (They have amazing confidence) or my favourite, the “Wonder Woman” pose (Now you can choose whether it’s Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman” or Lynda Carter’s, both are strong and confident.)
So now you know, whenever you feel nervous or anxious, get up, look in the mirror and pose, feel the confidence and say out loud a short quote, mine is “Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.”
And as you feel the confidence rise in your body, have a look at yourself and now you effortlessly are and sound confident.
