You must have read my previous emails on “How to Improve your Productivity” and “Don’t want to extend your work on Weekends?” and I am sure you have practiced the technique and want to know more.
So let us take a step forward and dwell deeper into the technique.
There are many who gave us personalized feedback about their own success using the technique, “SHRUGG IT OFF” at the office and improved the productivity.
Now, there are some, who also asked me a questions like,
“Ridhima, we did shrug it off, but you know what, we want to deal with it and know the reasons behind it as well. It’s just not going off and coming back, again and again”
“As if it’s stuck to me or it’s troubling me even more.”
“So, How and What do I follow.”
In the earlier technique, we changed our physiology to change our train of thought.
Now, in this technique we will work on our train of thought that will in turn change our physiology.
Here it goes:
Shrug it off technique (We are taking a general example of “feeling failed at presentation”)
Step 1: You are feeling that you failed in one of the presentations and it didn’t go very well. We call this Position A
Step 2: Get aware of the feelings, get up and SHRUGG IT OFF.
Step 3: After the Shrug, Jump out of that space to a distance. Take a step back.
We name it Position B
Step 4: At the step back position B, Ask a powerful question to position A
What is that would have helped “Your Name” to do it better?
What is that “She/he” would have utilized as a resource to achieve the outcome?
“Let the answer come to you………Your answer is your answer”
Step 5: You have got your Answer. Let’s assume the answer is “homework”
Step 6: Now Take a step back from B and come to a new Position C
Where did “Your Name” utilize homework to achieve success? In which context?
We utilize one resource in a different context. Maybe, you have utilized homework in past study/sport/anything in which you did your homework? Great, you got your context in which you did.
Step 7: Notice
How did he/she do the homework in that context, then?
How did he/she stands /sits /walks, while doing the homework, how is his/her physiology?
Let the answer come to you How did she talk to self while doing the homework?
Let the answer come to you
How did she feel while doing the homework?
Let the answer come to you one by one
As the answers are coming to you, there is a shift happening in your body (micro muscle movement) – the way you would stand while doing the homework, the way you would talk while doing the homework, the way you would feel while doing the homework.
Step 8: Natural
Oh actually, you got it now, you just stood in the best physiology for you to do the homework, so remember how to stand, talk and feel while doing the homework in the professional presentation context (do the homework the same way as you did in the past study/sport/anything).
Small Tip: In the future, before you start your homework for presentation, recall a memory of your best homework, be in it and start doing the homework now.
